Canada had a front seat to the festivities at the 2020 Berlin International Film Festival, beginning with Philippe Falardeau’s opening night gala premiere of My Salinger Year. The film was the first of 16 Canadian projects to screen at the festival, including the world premiere of Radio-Canada series Happily Married. It also marked Canada’s first participation in the “Books at Berlinale” pitch event.

Canadians would go on to nab a number of prizes by the festival’s close, including The Twentieth Century winning the  FIPRESCI Jury Forum prize and short film Clebs winning two prizes in the Generation 14Plus category.
