Anamorphic Media and Trilight Entertainment are partnering to produce a new feature film set in the world of mixed martial arts, marking the fourth time the Calgary-based companies have partnered this year.

Cagefighter, written and directed by Jesse Quinones, started filming in Regina, Saskatchewan on Friday (Nov. 1).

Produced by Shayne Putzlocher and Jessica Gaube of Trilight Entertainment and Sara Shaak of Anamorphic Media, the film stars Reiss Gibbins as a cage fighter on the brink of stardom. However, in order to get there, he must face off against a man from the scripted world of professional wrestling.

Financed by Anamorphic, the film is being sold internationally by U.K.-based Kaleidoscope Film Distribution.

The cast features some of the most recognizable faces from the worlds of mixed martial arts and professional wrestling, including former UFC champions Chuck Liddell and Luke Rockhold and pro wrestlers Jay “Christian” Reso and Jon “Moxley” Good.

Anamorphic and Trilight have collaborated consistently throughout 2019, producing The Doorman, Girl and Just Noise.
