Telefilm on Tuesday revealed a pair of high-profile additions, with René Bourdages and Marie-Claude Lavigne (pictured right and left, respectively) joining its executive leadership team.
Bourdages has been appointed senior director, cultural portfolio management, effective Dec. 2. He joins Telefilm from the National Film Board, where he served as the director general of creation and innovation since 2016. In the new Montreal- and Toronto-based role, he will oversee project financing, business affairs and coproduction, as well as program administration for the Canada Media Fund.
During a 30-year career, Bourdages has also held senior posts at CBC/Radio-Canada, Astral Media and TVA, and is a founder of consultancy firm ELEVADO Media.
Meanwhile, Lavigne, who joins Telefilm on Nov. 12, has been named director, government and public Affairs. She brings two decades of experience in strategy, government relations and public affairs. She will be based in Montreal and Ottawa. Lavigne has held VP roles at a number of PR companies, including Citoyen Optimum and Cohn & Wolfe.
Following a “rigorous recruitment process,” Telefilm says its “executive leadership team is now complete under a new structure.”
Other members of the exec team are: Francesca Accinelli, director, communications and promotion; E.J. Alon, director, Talent Fund; Patrick Bédard, director, finance and interim director, administration and corporate services; Stéphane Odesse, director, legal services and access to information and corporate secretary; and Stella Riggi, director, human resources.
The appointments come six months after Telefilm confirmed the departures of three member of its senior managerial team: Michel Pradier (director, project financing), Roxane Girard (director, business affairs and coproduction) and Denis Pion (director, administration and corporate services).
At the time, Telefilm announced three new positions: Julie Blondin was named interim director, business affairs and coproduction, Marie-France Godbout was appointed interim director of project financing and Patrick Bédard assumed the management of the information, performance, and risk team.
