CBC will premiere Canadian documentary She Walks with Apes (pictured) on Sept. 20, commissioned for the 59th season of The Nature of Things.
Ottawa native and Emmy-winning actor Sandra Oh narrates the 120-minute doc, which shares a glimpse of Jane Goodall’s early years as a pioneer of research on chimpanzees.
She Walks with Apes is co-directed by father-daughter duo Mark and Caitlin Starowicz. It was produced under their Grand Passage Media banner.
Mark Starowicz was a long-time producer and executive with the CBC, joining the pubcaster in the 1970s. He was promoted to executive director of documentary programming in 2006, until his departure in 2015 to become an independent producer.
She Walks with Apes is internationally distributed by CBC & Radio-Canada Distribution. The doc will be available to stream on CBC Gem following the Sept. 20 premiere.
