Cineflix signs first-look with Alexis Robie

The exec producer's credits include The First 48 and The Killer Speaks for A&E Network.

alexis robie image crop -v2Cineflix Media has inked an exclusive first-look deal with exec producer Alexis Robie.

Under the multi-year agreement, the Toronto-based producer and distributor will have the first option to produce original unscripted content developed by Robie under his newly launched production company, Coronet Pictures.

In addition to The First 48 (A&E Network), which follows detectives as they try to solve cases within the first 48 hours, Robie’s credits also include the spin-off The First 48 Presents: Homicide Squad AtlantaThe Case that Haunts MeThe Killer SpeaksSelling New York and Wife Swap.

Based in New York, Robie will focus on creating true crime, access-driven and justice programming for North American audiences, while working with teams at Cineflix Productions. Via the deal, the company’s distribution division, Cineflix Rights, will also get a first look at international sales rights.

This news follows the recent announcement that Cineflix will coproduce the one-hour nature doc, Takaya: Lone Wolf (working title), with Talesmith and Wild Wolf Media for CBC, BBC4 and ARTE. Announced at MIPTV, the special follows the story of a lone wolf living on a grouping of remote islands off the coast of B.C. and its close bond with wildlife photographer. Production is currently underway on the project.
