MIPTV deals: 9 Story, Blue Ant, Gusto

Canadian distributors revealed hundreds of hours of content sales as MIPTV got underway.

Blue Ant Media’s international distribution arm has sold more than 435 hours of content to broadcasters in France. The bulk of the sales have gone to Mediawan Thematics, which owns 19 channels in Europe and Africa. Titles include Off the Fence’s Into the Wild India, Blink Films’ Colombia’s Wild Coast, Plimsoll and Love Nature copro Zambia Untamed, Arcadia Entertainment’s Camp Zambia; Ocean Parks and NHNZ’s Wildest New Zealand. TF1 Group channel Ushuaia TV has picked up more than 20 hours of content, including Arcadia Entertainment’s Animal Empires, Off the Fence’s Extreme Africa and Blink Films’ collection of Secret Life miniseries.

Pubcaster France.tv has acquired seven hours of content from Plimsoll Productions, including The Monkey Diaries, Life’s Journey, Valley of Flood and Fire and Wild Survivors. French/German broadcaster ARTE has picked up the Blue Ant Media original production Alaskan Summer and Taglicht Media’s Root. Meanwhile French channel RMC Decouverte has licensed Testimony Films’ docuseries The First World War: The People’s Story. Blue Ant is currently showcasing more than 3,500 hours of programming at the international content market.

9 Story Distribution International

luobaobei9 Story Media’s international distribution arm has inked multiple deals for animated series Luo Bao Bei. The 52 x 11-minute series about the adventures of a 7-year-old girl with a big imagination, produced by China’s Magic Mall Entertainment, has been picked up by France Télévisions, Spain and Portugal’s Canal Panda, Spain’s CLAN, Sweden’s SVT, Thailand’s True Visions and Israel’s HOP!. 9 Story has also landed a global distribution agreement with Netflix for the series’ second broadcast window.

Gusto Worldwide

Gusto Worldwide Media has sold a number of titles to broadcasters in Europe and Asia. Hungary’s TV2 has inked a content deal for its channel LiChi TV, including Spencer’s Big 30, Watts on the Grill and The Latin Kitchen. Meanwhile South Korean broadcaster Berry Entertainment and Media has also acquired Spencer’s Big 30 and Watts on the Grill, as well as Fresh Market Dinners and Fish the Dish. The news follows the recent announcement that Gusto flagship series Flour Power has now been acquired in more than 65 international territories.
