Corus bolsters unscripted slate ahead of MIPTV

The company's Studios division has commissioned a trio of originals, including new projects from Scott Brothers Entertainment and McGillivray Entertainment.

Corus Studios has unveiled a trio of greenlights ahead of MIPTV, including new unscripted TV properties from McGillivray Entertainment and Scott Brothers Entertainment.

Among the new commissions is Vacation House Rules (10 x 60 minutes), produced by Scott McGillivray’s shingle McGillivray Entertainment. The series follows the renovation expert as he looks to increase the rental potential of neglected properties, transforming tricky homes into dream properties.

Another new series on Corus’ slate is Make Your Move (working title, 10 x 60 minutes) from Scott Brothers Entertainment. Produced for HGTV Canada, the show focuses on Dave and Kortney Wilson (Masters of Flip) as they try to work with homeowners who are stuck in a house-hunting rut.

As well, Sonar Entertainment’s Farmhouse Facelift (working title, 10 x 60 minutes) follows siblings Bill Pearson and Carolyn Wilbrink as they restore old farmhouses in their hometown.

Both Vacation House Rules and Farmhouse Facelift are produced in association with Corus Studios for HGTV Canada. Make Your Move is produced by Scott Brothers Entertainment for HGTV Canada.

Last year, also prior to MIPTV, Corus Studios commissioned four unscripted shows: Cream Productions’ World Without (9 x 60 minutes), Forté Entertainment’s Stitched (12 x 60 minutes), Mayhem Entertainment’s Rust Valley Restorers (8 x 60 minutes) and Attraction Images’ Big Rig Warriors (10 x 30 minutes).

Tuesday’s greenlight announcements follow the news that Corus Entertainment has strengthened its presence in the lifestyle space through its acquisition of Kin’s Canadian operations.
