Amidst the TIFF madness, the Canadian Film Centre (CFC) on Sunday (Sept. 9) hosted its annual BBQ fundraiser on its Toronto estate. Marking its 30th anniversary, founder Norman Jewison unveiled a new five-year initiative between the CFC and Netflix aimed at accelerating the careers of domestic content creators and their film and TV projects. Attendees also heard remarks from former Toronto mayor Mel Lastman, CFC CEO Slawko Klymkiw and the organization’s chair Christina Jennings.
