The Hummingbird Project‘s Pierre Even, Mouthpiece‘s Christina Piovesan and The Great Darkened Days’ Sylvain Corbeil will all contend for the Canadian Media Producers Association’s Indiescreen Established Producer Award, the CMPA announced today.
The association also revealed they’ve re-named the Emerging Producer Award after renowned producer Kevin Tierney, who died earlier this year.
All told, the CMPA nominated producers of five projects in each category. All of the nominees have a feature film screening at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival.
Also competing for the Established Producer Award are Stacey Aglok-MacDonald, Alethea Arnaquq-Baril, Miranda de Pencier, Damon D’Oliveira and Zanne Devine for The Grizzlies (Northwood Entertainment), as well as Simone Urdl and Jennifer Weiss for Falls Around her (The Film Farm).
Nominees for the Kevin Tierney Emerging Producer Award are Les Productions du Moment’s Renee Beaulieu for Les Salopes or the Naturally Wanton Pleasure of Skin, Prowler Film’s Caitlin Grabham for Firecrackers, Kistikan Pictures’ Tina Keeper for Through Black Spruce, Amazing Incorporated’s Zach Lipovsky for Freaks (pictured) and Carkner Films’ Tracy Major for Kingsway.
The winner of the Established Producer Award will receive $10,000 and the winner of the Kevin Tierney Emerging Producer Award will receive $5,000.
Last year’s winners were Kim McCraw and Luc Déry of Montreal’s micro_scope (A Worthy Companion) and Kristy Neville and Matt Code of Wildling Pictures (Mary Goes Round, Cardinals).
