Boat Rocker Media has added Dina Appleton as EVP of business and legal affairs.
In the role, Appleton will oversee all business and legal affairs of the production and distributions divisions of the company. She joins the Toronto media co from eOne, where she served as SVP of business and legal affairs.
Prior to eOne, Appleton was special counsel in the Entertainment, Media & Communications Practice Group at Sheppard Mullin, Richter & Hampton’s Century City office and represented clients such as Disney, Focus and Sony as well as independent producers. She’s also co-author of Hollywood Dealmaking: Negotiating Talent Agreements, published by Allworth Press first in 2002.
In a statement announcing the move, Samantha Traub, COO of Boat Rocker Media, said the addition of Appleton comes at an important time for Boat Rocker, which is continuing to grow and expand internationally.
Earlier this year, Boat Rocker acquired a majority stake in Toronto-based unscripted prodco Insight Productions, and acquired FremantleMedia’s kids and family entertainment division. The company also recently invested in New York-based story platform Serial Box.
