eOne has appointed Madison Merritt to the post of SVP of development, alternative programming and television.

Working from the company’s Los Angeles office, Merritt will lead the development team in business growth by managing the creation, development and sales of non-scripted series and content. She will work closely alongside Benjamin Megargel, VP of development alternative programming, television.

Most recently, Merritt founded and served as president for L.A. unscripted producer Mad Ave Entertainment, where, over a five-year period, she developed television, branded entertainment and digital content. Through this banner, Merritt sold and developed series with TLC, UP TV, VH1 and HGTV. Mad Ave Entertainment and fellow L.A. prodco Asylum Entertainment recently received a second season order for HGTV’s Flip or Flop: Nashville.

Prior to this, Merritt was SVP of series and development at New York-based prodco Ish Entertainment, overseeing West Coast development and part of the team behind a raft of projects such as Oxygen’s All About Aubrey and Girlfriend Confidential: LA; WeTV’s Fix My Family; Style’s Empire Girls; and MTV’s T.I.’s Road to Redemption and 50 Cent: The Money and the Power.

Merritt’s hiring to the Toronto-headquartered company follows eOne’s recent appointment of veteran agent Peter Micelli to the role of chief strategy officer of film, television and digital media. He reports into Mark Gordon, the newly-named president and chief content officer of film, television and digital.

eOne’s slate of alternative programming currently includes BET’s Death Row Chronicles; A&E’s original documentary LA Burning: The Riots 25 Years Later and Biggie: The Life of Notorious B.I.G.; MTV’s Siesta Key; Fuse’s The Hollywood Puppet Sh!t Show; and WE tv’s Growing Up Hip Hop, Growing Up Hip Hop Atlanta and Mary Mary.
