Mathieu Dagonas (pictured) has been appointed the new executive director for the Documentary Organization of Canada (DOC).
Dagonas will manage the day-to-day operations of the organization, with an emphasis on government relations. He will also assist with philanthropy efforts, fundraising, communications and member relations. Dagonas started in the new position on Feb. 7 and will report to the DOC board of directors.
Dagonas has 15 years of experience in political affairs and served as national campaign manager to Mike Crawley, leading the team that helped Crawley get elected president of the Liberal Party of Canada in 2011.
Most recently, he served as director of government relations and philanthropy at Fusion Juenesse, a charity working to lower school-dropout rates. He also serves on the board of Firefighters Without Borders.
In a press release Nadine Pequeneza, chair of DOC’s board of directors, said she believes Dagonas’ experience will serve the organization “well during this critical time as we build our strategic vision for the next five years.”
Dagonas replaces Judy Gladstone who stepped down from the role in November 2017.
