Media Ranch reveals MIPCOM deals

The Montreal producer/distributor has sold its True Sex Confessions to SPI International, while Banijay Group is set to remake Thunderstruck.

Montreal-based producer/distributor Media Ranch has sold a spate of formats and ready-made content following this year’s MIPCOM.

First off, global media company SPI International has acquired the Media Ranch original True Sex Confessions (pictured) for broadcast in Poland. The 13 x 30-minute series originally ran in 2015 on Canadian French-language channel Moi & Cie under the title Vraies Histoires de Sexe.

Meanwhile, international production/distribution company Banjiay Group secured the format rights to remake 1990s Canadian blind dating show Thunderstruck in Australia, France, Denmark and Italy.

The series is currently being remade for Quebec’s Vtélé channel, under the name Coup de Foudre.

Finally, EndemolShine France has secured the rights to remake Legal House Call (Vincent TV Producties) in France, a spinoff from long-running Dutch format Verdict on Demand. The format sees a legal expert making house visits to people struggling with legal issues.

Media Ranch announced last week that it partnered with Vivianne Morin to acquire the assets of Quebec prodco Salvail & Co. The goal of the transaction is to expand the company’s reach in the Quebec market.
