CraveTV commissions 40 more Letterkenny episodes

In a wide-ranging deal with New Metric Media, the SVOD also unveiled a partnership to shop the show and format rights internationally.

Bell Media streamer CraveTV and Toronto prodco New Metric Media have inked a deal that will see the pair produce at least 40 more episodes of half-hour comedy Letterkenny and partner on a number of activations to expand the brand internationally.

Under the multi-year deal, which Bell Media called “unprecedented” in a press release announcing the pact, Crave has committed to a total of at least 73 Letterkenny episodes (the series is currently at 33 eps), as well as supporting the property through brand extensions, including the newly announced Letterkenny Live! tour and merchandise deals. The 26-city cross-Canada tour is a 90-minute comedy show starring the main cast of Jared Keeso, Nathan Dales, K Trevor Wilson and Mark Forward. It is scheduled to begin in Halifax on Feb. 28 before heading west, with stops in cities such as Ottawa, Toronto, Kitchener, North Bay and Sudbury, where the show is filmed. Crave also announced plans to take the tour into the U.S., though did not elaborate on those plans.

In addition, CraveTV and New Metric, alongside DHX Media, will partner to shop both the series and the format into international markets (including an introduction to international buyers at MIPCOM last week).

The deal was negotiated by Bell Media’s Justin Stockman and Carlyn Klebuc, as well as New Metric’s Mark Montefiore and Denton’s Canada’s Jayme Alter.

Most recently Letterkenny premiered its Halloween special on Oct. 20. The episode saw The Hicks trying to work out what’s happening with a strange brew that is being served at the local bar.

The show, which launches its third season later this year, is produced by New Metric, in partnership with DHX Media and Playfun Games, and in association with Bell Media.
