Viceland and Rogers Media are in production on two original hour-long documentary series, The Wrestlers and Post Radicals.
Hosted by long-time Vice host and wrestling fan Damian Abraham, The Wrestlers (10 x 60 minutes) is an exploration of the wrestling world’s underground. Traveling from First Nations communities in rural Manitoba to Mexico’s Lucha Libre scene in Juarez, the series sees Abraham exploring the personalities involved in the sport of pro wrestling.
The series is produced by Jeff Lee Petry and Nathan Drillot, both of whom also direct. Exec producers are Michael Kronish, Patrick McGuire, Alex Craig, Chris Grosso, David Galloway, Shane Smith, Spike Jonze and Eddy Moretti.
Post Radical (8 x 60 minutes) meanwhile is hosted by pro-skater and amateur anthropologist Rick McCrank, who examines the various sub-cultures within the skateboarding community. It is directed by Alex Craig and prouced by David Galloway. Exec producers are Kronish, McGuire, Craig, Galloway, Smith, Jonze, Moretti and Lauren Cynamon.
Both projects will premiere in early 2018.
In August Viceland revealed its fall 2017 programming lineup, which includes season two of its first-ever scripted series Nirvanna The Band The Show and Fubar: Age of the Computer, as well as three digital series adaptations: Epicly Later’d, The Trixie & Katya Show and Most Expensivest Shit.
