eOne ups Carolyn Newman to SVP of scripted for U.S.

The former VP of development and production at Sphere Media will oversee the global studio's U.S. slate.

caroyln newmaneOne has upped former Sphere Media executive Carolyn Newman to SVP of scripted programming for its U.S. slate.

The promotion comes almost exactly a year since Newman joined eOne as VP of scripted programming. In the expanded role, she will be charged with overseeing eOne’s U.S. slate and heading up the global studio’s IP acquisitions. Coproductions and international pre-sales also fall under Newman’s remit.

She will continue to report to eOne’s president, global scripted programming, Pancho Mansfield, in the L.A.-based role.

Newman recently oversaw the acquisition of the TV rights to the Amor Towles novel A Gentleman in Moscow.

Prior to joining eOne, Newman served as executive in charge of development and production at Amazon Studios, where she oversaw a slate that included BoschMad Dogs and Hand of God. Before that she was VP of development and production at Quebec-based Sphere Media, where she executive produced titles such as 19-2.
