A stunt performer died Monday on the Vancouver set of Deadpool 2, the Vancouver Police Department has confirmed.
The stunt woman has been identified as Joi “S.J” Harris, a professional motorcycle racer from New York. Harris was performing a stunt on her motorcyle, when something went wrong and she crashed through a window of Shaw Tower.
The Vancouver Police Department reported that WorkSafeBC and the BC Coroners Service are investigating the accident. UBCP/ACTRA, which represents British Columbia performers, said it is providing support and resources to performers who witnessed the incident.
“British Columbia’s motion picture production community together expresses deepest sadness today for the tragic loss that occurred on the set of Deadpool this morning,” Creative BC said in a statement released on Twitter Monday.
Vancouver-born star Ryan Reynolds also responded to the tragedy on Twitter, stating, the film’s team was “heartbroken, shocked and devastated.”
