Creative BC funds 10 prodcos via Slate Program

Each of the production companies will receive $50,000, intended to support development stage costs for two or more projects.

Creative BC has announced the 10 prodcos based in the province that will each receive $50,000 through its Slate Development Program.

The Slate Program is part of Reel Focus BC, the province’s Domestic Motion Picture Fund, intended to boost the growth of mid-level and experienced B.C.-based prodcos with significant track records of successful independent production.

Announced May 5, the Slate Program contributes to each company’s total funding envelope to support development stage costs for two or more projects, one of which must be a scripted television series intended for broadcast or VOD platforms.

Seven of the 10 prodcos selected are based in Vancouver, including Playback‘s 2023 Production Company of the Year Lark Productions, Omnifilm Entertainment, Slap Happy Cartoons, Sepia Films, Eh-Okay Entertainment, Terminal City Pictures and Grand Scheme Productions.

The others are Port Moody’s Black Opiate Entertainment, Burnaby-based Pitchblack Pictures and Langley-based Lighthouse Pictures.
