Production is underway in Toronto on Acquainted, the sophomore feature from Toronto-based filmmaker Natty Zavitz.

Starring Giacomo Gianniotti of Grey’s Anatomy fame (and a Playback 5 to Watch alum) and Laysla De Oliveira (Code 8), the film follows two 20-somethings who have an instant connection, but have to deal with the fact that they’re in committed relationships with other people. The film also stars Adelaide Kane (Reign), Rachel Skarsten (Lost Girl), Raymond Ablack (Narcos) and Jonathan Keltz (Reign).

Zavitz’s debut film Edging recently won the audience award at the Canadian Film Fest. 

Acquainted is the first project produced by Gianniotti’s Toronto-based Fired Up Studios, which he launched with Keltz in 2015, and is a collaboration with Vancouver’s Front Street Pictures and Toronto’s 920 Films.

Producers on the film are Peter Harvey and Stephanie Sonny Hooker (who also produced Edging), as well as Gianniotti, Keltz, Front Street’s Aidan Kahn and 920’s James O’Donnell. Adelaide Kane and Paul Golini exec produce alongside A71’s David Miller.
