In its second renewal of the week, CBC has greenlit a seventh season of the half-hour comedy, Mr. D.
Lead star Gerry Dee made the announcement via Twitter and CBC subsequently confirmed the renewal to Playback Daily. Eleven new episodes will go to camera this summer and premiere on the pubcaster this fall.
Season six garnered an average audience (2+) of 372,000 viewers across during its 10-episode run.
Earlier this week, CBC also renewed Workin’ Moms for a second season. Its star and creator Catherine Reitman made the announcement on Facebook Live.
Mr. D is produced by Halifax’s Topsail Entertainment and Gerard ADHD Entertainment, in association with CBC. The sixth season filmed in Nova Scotia last summer and received $1.64 million through the province’s Film and Television Production Incentive Fund.
The Nova Scotia government recently announced that the fund, which is administered by Nova Scotia Business (NSBI), is being increased to $16.9 million in 2017/18.
Mr. D also stars Jonathan Torrens, Mark Little, Lauren Hammersley, Bette MacDonald, Naomi Snieckus, Darrin Rose, Wes Williams, Suresh John, Kathleen Phillips, and Bill Wood.
Entertainment One Television distributes the series internationally.
