Global sets Mary Kills People premiere

The original drama, created by Tara Armstrong, is produced by eOne and Cameron Pictures, in association with Corus Entertainment.

Global has set the premiere date for its new original drama, Mary Kills People.

The 6 x 60-minute series, produced by eOne and Cameron Pictures, in association with Corus Entertainment, will bow on Wednesday,  Jan. 25 at 9 p.m.

Created by Tara Armstrong, the series stars Caroline Dhavernas (Hannibal) as an ER doctor and single mom who spends her free time helping those in need end their lives. Joining Dhavernas on screen are Jay Ryan (Top of the Lake), Richard Short (Vinyl), Lyriq Bent (Book of Negroes), Greg Bryk (Bitten), Abigail Winters (Between) and Charlotte Sullivan (Rookie Blue).

Mary Kills People is executive produced by Tassie Cameron, Amy Cameron, Jocelyn Hamilton and Tecca Crosby. Armstrong also serves as a co-executive producer and writer. Additional writers on the series include Marsha Greene, Sherry White and Mike Goldbach. Holly Dale directed all six episodes. 

The series was picked up by Lifetime in November and is set to air in the U.S. next year alongside UnReal.

Mary Kills People will follow Ransom, another Global original series, in the lineup. Ransom is set to premiere on Jan. 1 before moving to its regular Wednesday at 8 p.m. slot in the lineup.

Ransom is created by David Vainola (Combat Hospital) and Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files) and  is produced by Entertainment One, Toronto’s Sienna Films, Spotnitz’s Big Light Productions and Paris-based Wildcats Productions.
