USA Network has renewed Toronto-shot Suits for a seventh season.
The announcement was made Wednesday at a Television Critics Association event in Beverly Hills. The 16-episode seventh season of the NBCUniversal cable network will air in 2017.
In the meantime, season six of the drama, which is produced by Universal Cable Productions, is now airing on USA Network.
Season six is currently filming in Toronto at the city’s Downsview Park Studios, with production not slated to wrap until the middle of November.
In January, an economic impact study published by Canada’s MNP LLP indicated that the show had supported 2300 jobs in Ontario and resulted in $102.8 million in production spending in Ontario during its five-season run. The study also said that the fifth season alone had resulted in $25.74 million in spending associated with crew, rentals, hotels, cleaners, production facilities, storage companies and other such costs.
Suits is executive produced by creator Aaron Korsh. Doug Liman, David Bartis and Gene Klein of Hypnotic also serve as executive producers, along with Daniel Arkin, Rick Muirragui and Silver Tree.
