Vancouver-based talent agency Play Management has announced its expansion into the U.S., with the opening of Play Talent Agency in Atlanta, GA.
While the official announcement was made earlier this month, Play Talent Agency officially opened its doors in January of 2016.
Play’s U.S. outpost will be headed by Trina Allen-Abt, who co-founded Play Management with Vickie Petronio-King and Lena Lees-Heidt in 2006.
Allen-Abt says Play saw an opportunity for growth in Georgia, where strong financial incentives have helped developed the region into a production hub. Recent productions filmed in Georgia include The Walking Dead series and Captain America: Civil War, although the studios behind both recently threatened to yank their productions from the state after its legislature passed a bill that would limit the rights of its LGBT residents.
She adds that the Vancouver and Atlanta divisions will work collaboratively to promote talent across North America.
Bookings out of the Atlanta office so far include Owen Vaccaro, who will appear in the upcoming feature Mother’s Day; Callie Brook McClincy, a series regular in the upcoming Cinemax series Outcast; Adam LaVorgna, known for his role on CBS’s 7th Heaven and Ben Owen, who appears on the Weather Channel.
Play Management also recently announced several pilot season bookings, including Warren Christie, who will join the cast of USA Network’s Eyewitness as a series regular; Canadians Eli Goree, who was cast in Freeform’s Dead of Summer, and Brendan Meyer, who will join the cast of Netflix’s The OA. Other actors the Vancouver agency currently represents include B.C.-native Amanda Crew, a series regular on HBO’s Silicon Valley, and Ottawa’s Brendan Penny, a regular on CTV’s Motive.
