U.S. advertising agency Hardwired Marketing Group has appointed Toronto’s Buck Productions as the sole content producer for its client roster.
Under the deal, Buck will create branded content and commercials, as well as select TV and film projects, for the agency’s clients. In particular, the agreement will see Buck CEO Sean Buckley collaborating with Hardwired president Peter Kahn on branded entertainment projects.
Buck has previously done work on a per-project basis for Hardwired and its clients, which include American Airlines, FedEx, Dunkin’ Donuts, Frito-Lay, Coca-Cola. Now though, all production on all Hardwired’s content will be executed by Buck.
Though the deal will likely mean extra projects for Buck Productions, Buckley said the company won’t be hiring any additional full-time staff due to the flexibility of the company’s business model.
“This outsourced model Buck has built out allows us to be small, and move so nimbly when needed, but also be big enough to finish a feature film at the same time,” he said.
The feature film in question is Milton’s Secret, which Buckley said is in the final days of post-production. The Hamilton, Ontario-shot went to camera in October 2015 and stars Donald Sutherland, Michelle Rodriguez and David Sutcliffe. Milton’s Secret is a coming-of-age drama about a boy whose grandfather helps him to discover the meaning of happiness, as the boy struggles with bullies at school.
