New Debbie Travis series heads to OWN Canada

The six-part docu-series is produced by Travis' Montreal-based prodco Whalley-Abbey Media.

Corus Entertainment’s OWN Canada has picked up a new docu-series featuring longtime TV personality Debbie Travis, titled La Dolce Debbie.

The 6 x 30 minute series follows Travis as she as she looks for, buys and overhauls a 13th century Tuscan property. La Dolce Debbie is set to bow on Tuesday, Feb. 16 and is produced by Travis’ Montreal-based production company, Whalley-Abbey Media (WAM).

The series was acquired by Corus Entertainment for the channel. Other series Travis has produced through WAM include All for One with Debbie Travis, Chuck’s Week Off Mexico, Only in Montreal and Debbie Travis’ Facelift.

The OWN pickup of the series comes about two months after the CRTC approved an application from Corus Entertainment to remove a condition of licence requiring it to air formal and informal educational programming generally focused on adult education. That nature of service stipulation was a relic of the channel’s origin as Canadian learning Television.
