My Internship in Canada wins TIFF Top 10 award

The political satire from Philippe Falardeau had its North American premiere at the 2015 edition of the Toronto International Film Festival.

Philippe Falardeau’s My Internship in Canada (Guibord s’en va-t-en guerre) has won TIFF’s Canada’s Top Ten Film Festival People’s Choice Award, as voted by Toronto audiences.

The 15th edition of the festival ran from Jan. 8 to Jan. 17 at the TIFF Bell Lightbox in Toronto, Other feature films included in the festival’s lineup were Stephen Dunn’s Closet Monster, Alan Zweig’s HURT, Philippe Lesage’s The Demons (Les démons), Anne Émond’s Les êtres chers (Our Loved Ones), Guy Maddin and Evan Johnson’s The Forbidden Room, Patrick Reed and Michelle Shephard’s Guantanamo’s Child: Omar Khadr, Patricia Rozema’s Into the Forest, Mina Shum’s Ninth Floor and Andrew Cividino’s Sleeping Giant.

TIFF also revealed the winners of the Student Film Awards for pieces selected to screen in the Top Ten festival. The Best Film (Live Action) award went to Ms. Liliane (Mme. Liliane), directed by Junna Chif, with Raghed Charabaty’s Alia named runner-up. The Best Film (Animation) student prize was awarded to Melody Wang’s The Casebook of Nips & Porkington.
