Los Cabos ’15: Room captures two awards

The Canadian-Irish coproduction was one of the big winners on Saturday night.

Canadian-Irish coproduction Room was one of the big winners on Saturday night at the Los Cabos International Film Festival in Los Cabos, Mexico.

The feature, already garnering major-award season buzz, took home the USD$15,000 Competencia Los Cabos Cinemex Award winner and the USD$10,000 Cinemex Audience Award.

The competition award was selected by a jury that included Telluride Film Festival director, Tom Luddy, ex-Variety chief film critic and now Amazon Studios development and acquisitions executive and Scott Foundas, and Argentinean producer and filmmaker, Lucía Puenzo.

Room also took the audience award at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this year.

Room is directed by Lenny Ambrahamson, with No Trace Camping producing in association with Duperele Film.
