Laurie McAllister joins ACTRA Toronto

McAllister replaces Mimi Wolch - who has moved to Film Ontario - as the union's new director of independent and broadcast production.

Laurie McAllister is ACTRA Toronto’s new director of independent and broadcast production, the union announced Monday.

McAllister was most recently the director of business affairs at in-house production at Bell Media before joining ACTRA. Prior to her time at Bell Media, McAllister was the manager of development and business affairs at Radical Sheep Productions.

She succeeds Mimi Wolch in the role, who left ACTRA to take on the job of interim managing director at Film Ontario.

McAllister, whose appointment is effective immediately, will be working closely with ACTRA executive director Sue Milling during the ongoing Independent Production Agreement bargaining. The current Independent Production Agreement expires on Dec. 31. The agreement covers the engagement of actors in indie film, television and new media productions in Canada, outside of B.C.
