The National wins International Emmy

adrienne arsenault CBC News’ flagship newscast The National won an International Emmy Award in the News category on Wednesday night for its coverage of the Ebola crisis in West Africa.

The Ebola Effect segment saw The National correspondent Adrienne Arsenault, producer Stephanie Jenzer and videographer/editor Jean Francois-Bisson file a series of daily reports from Liberia about how the crisis was unfolding. The reports, which aired in fall 2014, included interviews with overwhelmed aid workers and the president of Liberia, along with stories about orphans who had survived the outbreak.

The awards were presented at a ceremony held at the Lincoln Centre in New York City in conjunction with the U.S. News Emmys. The International Emmy for current affairs was awarded to Dispatches: Children on the Frontline from British producers ITN. The report looks at the stories of five children whose lives have been impacted by the war in Syria.
