River Road, CBC team up for The Wild Canadian Year

The show will air on CBC in fall 2017 to coincide with Canada's 150th anniversary.

Princeton, B.C.-based River Road Films and the CBC are partnering on a five-part documentary series entitled The Wild Canadian Year to air on The Nature of Things

The five hour-long episodes will be produced and directed by River Road’s Jeff and Sue Turner.  The duo also produced and directed the CBC doc series Wild Canada, and previously worked on BBC series Planet Earth and Frozen Planet.

The doc will focus on Canada’s wildlife throughout the four seasons, while also seeking to uncover never-before-seen footage of the year-round Canadian landscape using 6K ultra-high resolution digital cameras and motion capture equipment.

The four-part Wild Canada drew an average audience of 762,000 viewers (2+) to CBC during its March and April run last year. Its first episode attained the largest audience of the series, with 938,000 (2+) tuning in.

Caroline Underwood will serve as executive producer on the series, which is set to air in 2017.
