Global indie format and production house The Gurin Group and CBC have inked a development deal with marblemedia for the factual format series Take Sides.

The concept is the first series to emerge from a creative collaboration agreement between CBC and California-based The Gurin Company that was announced in April 2014.

According to a statement on the deal, Take Sides is meant to be a “360 viewing experience,” and will include a weekly live studio broadcast combined with digital  and social media elements to prompt simultaneous participation of at-home audiences.

Take Sides will see a team of comedic and improv actors and musical guests face off on a topic in a courtroom structure. The topic on “trial” for the day will be examined through a range of methods, including sketches, monologues and musical numbers. The audience then votes on which “side” wins, through a mix of live studio participation and digital participation of the audience watching at home.

Casting for the series is set to begin this summer.
