Montreal-based prodco Muse Entertainment has announced two additions to its Los Angeles office, naming Lydia Storie as VP of development for Muse Entertainment USA  and Meghan Mathes as director of development.

The company also promoted Scott Clayton to manager of development for Muse Entertainment USA from his previous position of development assistant. Muse Entertainment USA is a subsidiary of Muse Entertainment Enterprises.

The newly formed U.S. team is tasked with expanding Muse’s scripted television slate, with a focus on U.S.-targeted comedies and drama.

Storie previously held the role of director of development at Endemol Studio’s scripted arm Additional Dialogue, where she oversaw the company’s cable development projects. Prior to that, she worked with Original Media’s founder Charles Corwin to launch that company’s scripted development division.

Mathes meanwhile was previously the manager of development at Evolution Entertainment. There she worked on the management of literary projects, as well as establishing numerous projects with cable networks.

The timing of these latest hires and the expansion of the U.S. office was intended to align next month’s start of the annual development season for the U.S. networks, said Michael Prupas, CEO of Muse Entertainment. Prupas also noted he wants to see Muse increase its presence in the L.A. market and the U.S. in general.

“The hires are a signal of Muse’s commitment to producing programming that has a primary sale in the U.S. market,” Prupas told Playback Daily“In light of the environment that’s evolving here in Canada, we feel it’s becoming more important than it’s ever been to have a primary sale to U.S. buyers, and not depend on the limited scope that’s going to be available to us in Canada.”

Muse’s recent production credits include Being Human for Syfy, Signed, Sealed, Delivered for Hallmark and The Kennedys for Reelz.
