Shaw, NSI announce Diverse TV Director participants

The program is geared toward aspiring scripted television directors looking to find a break in the world of TV directing.

lindsay mackay directorThe winning applicants of the Diverse TV Director program – the National Screen Institute (NSI) and Shaw Media’s collaborative program to promote diversity among directors in series television – have been announced.

Karen Lam, Lindsay MacKay (pictured), Melanie Orr and Randall Okita were the four applicants chosen to be part of the program.

The initiative, launched in February, is a training course consisting of two phases in which students partake in an intensive 10-day bootcamp, held in Toronto, and a four-week director shadowing stint on a production set, as well as on-set and classroom workshops.

The Diverse TV Director program – open to female, aboriginal, disabled and visible minority applicants – is geared toward aspiring scripted television directors looking to find a break in the world of TV directing.
