SundanceNow Doc Club has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to Sophie Deraspe’s A Gay Girl in Damascus: The Amina Profile.
The deal was negotiated by Linda Pan, general manager of Doc Club, along with Lorne Price and Chanelle Routhier of the National Film Board of Canada, on behalf of the filmmakers.
The Amina Profile will premiere digitally on Doc Club and theatrically via Doc Club sister company Sundance Selects on July 24. It will also make its international television debut later in the year on Sundance Channel Global.
Produced by Isabelle Couture and Nathalie Cloutier, the film originally bowed at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.
SundanceNow Doc Club is an ad-free SVOD service dedicated solely to documentaries, offering a curated selection of films for its viewers. Thom Powers, documentary programmer with the Toronto International Film Festival, serves as the program’s resident curator.
