Canadians appearing on TV show broadcast on U.S. networks in July will be competing for Golden Maple Awards, after nominations were unveiled on Tuesday.
In the best actor category for TV series airing in the U.S., Haven‘s Adam Copeland, Vikings‘ Alexander Ludwig and Graceland‘s Brandon Jay McLaren will vie against Bitten‘s Greyston Holt, Lyric Bent of The Book of Negroes, and two Reign actors with nods, Torrance Coombs and Jonathan Keltz.
The Academy of Canadians in Sports & Entertainment in Los Angeles also handed out nominations for best Canadian actress appearing on a U.S. TV show.
In that category, Amanda Crew of Silicon Valley, Anna Silk of Lost Girl and Caroline Dhavernas of Hannibal will compete against Jessalyn Gilsig and Katheryn Winnick of Vikings, Kathleen Robertson of Murder in the First, and Missy Peregrym of Rookie Blue.
The best newcomer in a U.S. broadcast TV show will feature nominations for Brooke Wexler of Richie Rich, Emily Hampshire for 12 Monkeys and Schitt’s Creek, Italia Ricci of Chasing Life, Meaghan Rath of New Girl, and Shailyn Pierre Dixon for The Book of Negroes.
Nominees must be Canadian talent in TV series broadcast in the US between July 1, 2014 and July 1, 2015.
The Golden Maple Awards will be handed out on July 1, 2015, with the venue still to be confirmed.
