Cinesite’s Montreal shop has been awarded a “major” VFX contract for the upcoming Lionsgate supernatural thriller The Last Witch Hunter.
Stephane Paris, who has returned to Cinesite as visual effects supervisor, will lead work on the film. Most recently, Paris was a digital effects supervisor at MPC on Guardians of the Galaxy, and also served as a CG supervisor on Man of Steel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Edge of Tomorrow. Paris’ previous work with Cinesite prior to his return include CG supervisor on films such as Clash of the Titans and Generation Kill.
Nick Brooks will also serve as visual effects supervisor on the project, and Tom Elder-Groebe will be the visual effects producer.
The Last Witch Hunter stars Vin Diesel and is directed by Breck Eisner. The film is currently shooting in Pittsburgh and is slated for a Oct. 23 release.
London-headquartered Cinesite first announced it was opening a Montreal studio in January 2014. Other projects currently being worked on at the Montreal studio include Maggie, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., San Andreas and Gods of Egypt.
In September 2014, Cinesite also opened a new division at the Montreal location to produce family-targeted animated features for 3QU Media. The CG-animated film producer is lead by Shrek franchise producer John Williams and Henry F. Skelsey, who is a managing partner of Fulton Capital Management LLC.
