Academy to honour Insight with Icon Award

In recognition of its 35th anniversary, Insight Productions is being honoured with the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television’s inaugural Icon Award.

According to the ACCT, the new award has been established to recognize special achievements in the Canadian screen industry.

The award will be presented during the 2015 Canadian Screen Awards.

Toronto-based Insight Productions has a long and established track record in Canadian television production, most recently with formats Amazing Race Canada, Big Brother Canada and Top Chef Canada. It was also behind hit CBC reality series Battle of the Blades, beloved YA scripted series Ready or Not and special events such as The Juno Awards and Canada’s Walk of Fame.

“Insight’s long history of producing the biggest hits year after year and their support of the Canadian screen industry decade after decade has earned them this recognition,” said Academy chair Martin Katz in a statement.

This week also saw Insight president and COO Barbara Bowlby, who runs the company alongside chairman and CEO John Brunton, awarded the outstanding achievement in business Crystal Award from Women in Film and Television Toronto.
