FX has made it official, as the U.S. cable channel on Tuesday ordered a second season of Guillermo del Toro’s The Strain TV series, which shoots in Toronto.
The 13-episode order for the Corey Stoll-starring vampire virus drama comes ahead of a summer 2015 return on FX, with production returning to Cinespace Studios but switching from the company’s Kipling to Booth Ave locations.
The Strain airs on FX Canada as part of a supply deal between Rogers Media and FX Productions.
The series from del Toro and Carlton Cuse still has seven episodes to run as part of the first season, which debuted in July on FX on Sunday nights.
The Strain is the first drama series produced solely by FX Productions.
The ensemble cast includes David Bradley, Mia Maestro, Sean Astin, Kevin Durand, Natalie Brown, Jonathan Hyde, Richard Sammel and Miguel Gomez.
