Halfire drama in development with NBC, Shaw

Halfire Entertainment has struck a co-development deal with NBC and Shaw Media for the police procedural drama ROPE.

The one-hour drama follows the story of Jo McKenzie,  a police officer and member of her division’s elite Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) squad. The series follows McKenzie as she returns to her hometown, a new job and messy personal life.

The series is based on a concept developed by Tassie Cameron (Rookie Blue, Flashpoint), and Cracked‘s Calum deHartog.

Cameron serves as writer and executive producer on the series. Noreen Halpern, president of Halfire Entertainment, and deHartog are also executive producers on ROPE.

Other series currently on Halfire Entertainment’s development slate include a 10-hour limited series for FOX titled Billy The Kid, Highway to Heaven for A & E and Prons for Bell Media and Movie Central.
