Roadside picks up Mommy for U.S. distribution

Roadside Attractions has picked up the U.S. rights to writer/director Xavier Dolan’s Mommy following negotiations with Seville International.

Mommy was a hit with critics at Cannes and took home the festival’s Jury Prize, sharing the award with Goodbye to Language from French director Jean-Luc Godard. Through the Roadside Attractions deal, the film is currently slated for a U.S. release in the first quarter of 2014.

To date, Seville International has sold Mommy into markets in over 50 countries.

The Roadside Attractions deal was negotiated by Seville International’s VP of international sales Anick Poirier, and Roadside Attractions co-president Howard Cohen. Attorney Greg Bernstein also participated in the negotiations for Roadside Attractions.

eOne/Les Films Seville is handling the distribution of the film in English and French Canada.
