Production begins on Transporter – The Series

Canadian production on the second season of Canada-France coproduction Transporter – The Series has commenced in Toronto.

This is the third leg of production on the drama from Toronto’s QVF Inc. and Paris-based Atlantique Productions. Earlier shoots took place in Morocco and the Czech Republic.

The Toronto shoot will continue through August with Frank Spotnitz on board as showrunner and executive producer.

Transporter airs on TMN and Movie Central in Canada, M6 in France and TNT in the U.S., as well as multiple other international territories.

The first season of Transporter aired in 2012, but development on the second season hit a snag when HBO/Cinemax decided not to renew its commitment. It was replaced earlier this year by U.S. cable channel TNT.

The second season is slated to air in Canada this fall, with a later 2014 bow on TNT.

The series is based on the Luc Besson film franchise of the same name, and stars Chris Vance as lead Frank Martin, a driver-for-hire in the criminal underground.

Transporter is produced by Susan Murdoch for QVF Inc. and Olivier Bibas for Atlantique Productions. Chris Vance and Fred Fuchs (The Godfather: Part III) serve as executive producers.
