Syfy orders second season of Bitten

Syfy has made it official by unveiling a second season order of 10 new episodes of Bitten.

The U.S. channel will debut the sophomore season for the female werewolf drama in 2015, and follows Space last week also renewing the series from No Equal Entertainment, Hoodwink Entertainment and Entertainment One.

The renewal deal for the Laura Vandervoort-starrer was brokered by eOne Television International.

During its first season on Syfy, Bitten averaged 1.1 million total viewers, based on Live +7 data.

The series is based on the Women of the Otherworld novels by author Kelley Armstrong, and also stars Greg Bryk, Greyston Holt, Steve Lund and Michael Xavier.

Production on the second season will begin this summer in Toronto.

Syfy also airs a host of other Canadian sci-fi dramas, including Lost Girl, Continuum, and Olympus, a series produced by Reunion Pictures and Great Point Media and shooting in Spokane, Washington and Vancouver.

Bitten is executive produced by J.B. Sugar, John Barbisan, Patrick Banister, Tecca Crosby, John Morayniss and Margaret O’Brien.

Daegan Fryklind (Motive, The Listener) is the showrunner. eOne is the worldwide distributor for the series.
