Distributor-producer Off the Fence has licensed 50 hours of science, natural history and wildlife titles to Canada’s French-language channel Explora.
The CBC/Radio-Canada owned pay-TV channel has inked a two-year deal with OTF, which will see Explora taking on a range of titles, such as Wildest Latin America from OTF’s catalog, and includes programming in the environmental, health, natural history and science genres.
The deal – unveiled at the World Congress of Science and Factual Producers in Montreal – was brokered by Ludo Dufour, sales manager for Off the Fence, and Pascal Ouimet, business affairs director at Radio-Canada.
“We have been working with Explora since the launch of the channel and truly believe in the broadcaster’s identity and ambitions,” said Ellen Windemuth, CEO of Off the Fence. “We are delighted to celebrate an even closer relationship with our French-Canadian partners and know that OTF’s high-end programming coupled with an ever-growing catalog of French-dubbed content will be a great match for Explora’s programming needs.”
“Through this agreement with Off the Fence, we are very pleased to offer our audience an even greater selection of the best documentary series produced abroad,” said Michel Pelletier, programming director at Explora. “This is an important step for Explora’s development, which quickly won the public’s interest.”
