U.S. network NBC has entered a deal to coproduce Global TV’s upcoming half-hour comedy Working the Engels, produced by Halfire-CORE Entertainment in partnership with Shaw Media.
The deal marks the first time a U.S. network and Canadian broadcaster have collaborated to produce a half-hour network comedy, according to a release from NBC.
Working the Engels centres on a young lawyer who leaves her high-powered law firm to take over her father’s small storefront law practice after he passes away. She becomes the family’s unlikely patriarch as she deals with her family and co-workers.
The 12-episode single-cam series is written and created by Katie Ford and Jane Ford, and stars Andrea Martin, Kacey Rohl, Azura Skye and Benjamin Arthur.
Katie Ford, Jane Ford, Howard Busgang, Tom Nursall and Noreen Halpern are exec producing.
