Jacob Tierney reteams with Jay Baruchel for Baseballissimo

Jacob Tierney directed Jay Baruchel in Good Neighbours and The Trotsky.

Now Tierney is to direct Baseballissimo, a theatrical dramedy whose script Baruchel co-wrote with Jesse Chabot, for David Miller’s A71 Productions and Geddy Lee’s Gefilter Productions.

The Canada-Italy co-production, being shopped this week at AFM, is based on the book Baseballissimo by Dave Bidini.

Lee, lead singer of Rush, bought the film rights to Bidini’s book about baseball played in Italy’s farm leagues.

The movie adaptation is about a young Canadian minor league baseball player destined for major league success, until his attitude gets in the way and he finds himself in a beautiful coastal Italian town under odd circumstances.

Baruchel is also on board to play a key acting role in the movie, which will be produced by Miller and executive produced by Lee and Bidini.

Baruchel and Chabot are represented by CAA, Thruline Entertainment and Jamie Feldman at Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Adler & Feldman.

Tierney is repped by the Garry Goddard Agency and Circle of Confusion, while Baseballissimo is being represented by WME and A71 Productions Inc.
