Bell Media has pulled Kevin Smith’s Spoilers movie review series away from Hulu and into Canada for an exclusive run on The Comedy Network
Smith’s SModCo and Noreen Halpern’s Halfire-CORE Entertainment will produce a second season of Spoilers, comprising ten new half hour episodes, for the Comedy Network, to debut in December 2013.
The first season of Spoilers was produced by SModCo for Hulu in the U.S. market.
Bell Media bought the first season of the movie review series for its Space channel.
Now as Hulu leaves the scene, the exclusive Canadian version of Spoilers will shoot in December in Los Angeles as a TV series, and no longer a web series.
“I’m ecstatic that Bell Media saw enough potential in Spoilers to make it a real live TV show for Comedy,” said Kevin Smith in a statement Monday.
The move follows long-standing ties between Bell Media and Smith, including a guest starring role by the American indie filmmaker on Degrassi: The Next Generation in 2005.
The second cycle of Spoilers will be produced by Jordan Monsanto, with Noreen Halpern executive producing.
Halpern’s Halfire-CORE Entertainment is also producing Working The Engels for Shaw Media.
