Canadian scribe Graham Wagner has received a presentation order from NBC for primetime animated comedy series Mystery Island.
Wagner will co-write and exec produce the pilot with actor-producer Ed Helms (The Office), who is also on board to voice the series.
“NBC doesn’t have a primetime animation series on the air right now, so we’re not dealing with a lot of precedent and that’s a great starting place, creatively,” Wagner said in a statement.
Wagner will present a pilot script and short demo of the series, which features a group of people who become stranded on an island after their cruise ship breaks down.
Michael Falbo, EVP of Helms’ recently launched Pacific Electric Picture Company will also exec produce. The company has a two-year overall development deal with Universal Television.
Wagner, who is repped by Meridian Artists and ICM, recently received a pilot script commitment with NBC for The Younger Man.
