Entertainment One has hired veteran distributor Harold van Lier away from France’s StudioCanal to become president of eOne Films International.

Filling the new post in January 2014, van Lier will among other duties launch a new film financing and investment model backed by new production financing pacts with City National Bank and OneWest Bank.

Van Lier, who joined StudioCanal six years ago from Summit Entertainment, arrives at eOne after Sally Caplan in May 2013 left her role as managing director, eOne Films International.

While will working with eOne’s film production partners in Canada, van Lier will raise the film group’s profile in the US., U.K. and European markets.

“I’ve had the privilege of sitting across the table from Harold and I’m delighted that he is now bringing his expertise to eOne,” Patrice Théroux, who oversees eOne’s global Film business, in a statement Wednesday.
