Canadian comic Russell Peters is leading Netflix’s first move into TV stand-up and documentary comedy.
The U.S. video streaming giant will debut next month the 70-minute comedy special Notorious and the docu-series Russell Peters vs. The World.
And before that, Netflix will screen its Russell Peters comedy special on Sept. 9 at the Toronto International Film Festival, with the comic on hand for a Q&A.
Notorious features Peters in a live concert performance filmed on March 15, 2013 at the Allphones Arena in Sydney, Australia.
The four-part Russell Peters vs. the World series follows the Canadian comic on his global Notorious tour.
Starting in 2008, Peters became among the first stand-up comics to produce and distribute his own comedy specials and DVDs, which have gone on to sell over 250,000 units across North America.
Peters is listed on the Forbes List as among the top-earning comics in North America.
