Philippe Falardeau’s Monsieur Lazhar has been named as the best Canadian film by audiences of the Toronto International Film Festival’s Film Circuit.
Monsieur Lazhar earlier won for best Canadian feature at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival, before being seen by around 20,000 Film Circuit cinema-goers.
And Olivier Nakache and Éric Toledano’s The Intouchables was selected as the best international film as the Film Circuit unveiled its latest audience awards.
The Intouchables was seen by around 21,000 people via the Film Circuit in 2012.
In their eighth year, the Film Circuit People’s Choice Awards are decided by audiences nationwide voting for their favourite film shown at dedicated screenings.
